Marketing/Audience Development

Preston Museums Group

Social media strategy

Preston Museums Group asked me to develop a social media strategy, so that they could complement their existing promotion – through traditional communication channels – with a digital approach. This meant more than simply setting up and resourcing a twitter account or facebook fan page, but carefully considered strategies for developing an online presence – and dialogue. The strategy includes a marketing campaign which will involve the latest social media tools such as blogging, video sharing, flickr and audioboo.

I’m also working with the group to raise the profile of their website and associated news stories through press coverage both on and offline. The future vision for the website is one of collaboration – the museum team are looking closely at its development post-launch, so that it becomes more of a dialogue with its family audiences, utilising new media tools to drive this forward.

Preston Museums Group is funded by Renaissance Northwest and comprises five museums including the Harris Museum & Art Gallery, National Football Museum, Museum of Lancashire, Queen’s Lancashire Regimental Museum and Ribble Steam Railway.
